Update on Red and Cookie Dough

Red and CD are pregnant again!

Yep, they were bred to Lucky on 10/7/2013. Palpation was a success, so I'm pretty sure they're both pregnant.

If there's anything I've learned from running a rabbitry, it's that if you are squeamish, you will either quit really fast, or be running your rabbitry into the ground as a result of overflowing vet bills. Most illness-related things I've done haven't been fun, by a long shot, but they've saved the rabbit's life. And really, in the end, that's all that matters.

I will be creating a new page with home cures and remedies for rabbit illnesses soon.

General Update
Hello again!

The reason I haven't been updating much is that there has been a lot going on, not all of it good. You will notice Mr. Snow Barker is no longer on the waiting list. Sadly, this is because he has passed away due to internal parasites. The symptoms are subtle, and I didn't recognize them until it was too late.

One of the lightly marked kits developed a huge abscess, which burst. I managed to save him, but he lost vision in his left eye. We thought it was permanent, but happily, he regained his sight in the nick of time for he and his brother to go to a new home. They were both sold at the fair. Lucky, the rabbit that took a fall out of his cage, was most likely carried off along with his brother, who sadly, never was found, then dropped, three yards, two fences plus a dog away, and then, amazingly spotted behind the front right wheel of her truck, is doing VERY well. He looks a lot like his father, a three times Grand Champion. The judge said I should bring him back, once he loses his baby face. Well, now he's lost it, so I'm bringing him back soon. He is also due to breed CD and Red in October.

The other doe kit has been named Torch, and is welcomed as a member of the rabbitry.

Well, that's all for now!

7 Weeks

The long overdue pictures!  One of the kits has been given to a friend of mine as pick of the litter, another sold.  There are four left.  Here are the pics:

Sorry about the black dots, our camera was having problems.

4 week old babies

The kits are now 4 weeks old, and growing fast!  Pictures coming soon!

They will be taken to the breeder who owns the buck I bred Red with, she will take a pick of the litter and give me the buck's pedigree.

Very late kit update

Sorry for the late update, the kits are now 2 weeks old.  They are doing great, and today they had their nest box taken out.  You can view the cute kits on Bunny Cam!

On a sad note, Cookie Dough lost her litter to exposure, she forgot to cover them.  So I have fostered the three brokens from Red's litter to her.  Also, we one of the brokens and one of the torts fell out of their cage and disappeared.  The broken was amazingly recovered by a neighbor who found it in the street, it must have gone all the way across two yards then fallen off the curb.  Sadly, the solid tort was never found.
